Family of Yevhen Ivanchenko

Yevhen Ivanchenko, an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, tragically died on May 11, 2014, on the way to the landfill. After his death, he left behind his 2-year-old son Dmytro.

Unfortunately, the officer’s family from Volyn region has not yet received the status of the “family of the deceased” and is thus deprived of the local authorities’ care. In memory of the other deceased soldiers, the City Hall has installed flagpoles at their graves. And only Yevhen’s grave was unfairly ignored, with the City Hall sending formal remarks. The family has been fighting for their rights for a long time but has been continuously receiving refusals from the military commissariat and the city council.

However, thanks to the donation from Orphan Children of Maidan & ATO, the flagpole was installed at Yevhen’s grave. The grave is frequently visited by his relatives and fellow soldiers, who went through hell together with him. Yevgen was a great instructor for them.

The family expresses their great appreciation to the diaspora for the opportunity to pay tribute and honor Yevhen’s memory. He loved Ukraine more than anything else and sought to defend his motherland to the end!
