Family of Mykhaylo Hryhoryshyn

Mykhaylo Hryhoryshyn  was a  Hero of Ukraine. He was awarded a 3-grade Order for Courage.

Mykhaylo was born on April 28, 1990, in Panivtsi village (Borshchiv district, Ternopil region) and graduated from the Law Faculty of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University with honors. In 2012, Mykhaylo started his service in the landing forces and planned to work in the police. When the war in Eastern Ukraine started, Mykhaylo couldn’t stand aside because of his love for the motherland.

He became a soldier of the 51st brigade, and later he was transferred to a separate 15th mountain infantry battalion of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade.

Mykhaylo was killed on January 31, 2015. That day, the terrorists were conducting a heavy bombardment. Mykhaylo’s fellow soldiers saw him falling down but they had no chance to reach him because of the severe fighting.

For long time Mykhaylo’s relatives kept hoping that he was alive and will call them any minute to say that he was fine. However, on April 13, 2015, the DNA test confirmed his death. Mykhaylo’s relatives, friends, and many people who live in Ternopil gathered to attend his funeral procession on April 17.

Mykhahylo was only 25, a handsome young man with a promising future. His relatives are grieving deeply over their loss. Because of the severe stress, his mother got cancer and underwent complex surgery. After his death, Mykhaylo’s younger sister Alina wrote a book named “The imperishable in his heart”.
